Imagine that astronauts have tea for their first breakfast in space! Xiaoaotiangong first began to develop a type of dark tea as a supplement for Chinese astronauts in early 2010. Top-quality leaves were selected, state-of-the-art extraction technology was applied and multiple experiments were made to find the best formula. After comparison, selection, R&D and production, the researchers succeeded at last in developing a space-grade drink for Shenzhou 10 purposes. Called space-grade degreasing tea (Space Pleasure®), it has made its name as the first breakfast as well as a necessary daily drink of Shenzhou 10 astronauts in space.
Focusing primarily on the development and application of space-grade biotech products, Beijing Xiaoaotiangong Biotech, LLC is devoted to developing space-grade food and health care products for the life and work of humans in space. Space Pleasure® is the first generation tea drink developed by Xiaoaotiangong under the leadership of CNSA Deputy Chief Designer Chen Shanguang. The product witnesses how China’s tea industry filled a technology gap in the space and aeronautics field and symbolizes the wholesomeness and high quality of Chinese tea.

At the invitation of the organizer, Xiaoaotiangong has also appeared at the tea show, symbolic of innovative industries, as an exemplary exhibitor. On show will be a range of space-grade tea products, specialties and healthy drinks. China Astronaut Center Dietetic Engineering Lab Director Chen Bin and AFGH Digestive Medicine Specialist Prof. Mao Gaoping will also assist at the show, make a speech on the application of tea to space-grade biotech, and attend symposiums. The aim of the tea show is to involve tea producers and traders at large in an activity organized by Xiaoaotiangong on behalf of CNSA to select black tea ingredients for Shenzhou 11 astronauts. The participants are expected to join hands in promoting the civilianization and industrialization of space-grade biotech tea products.
