President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Fiji last November and published a bylined article entitled A Lasting True Friend of the People of Pacific Island Countries on the Fijian mainstream media, signifying still closer relations between China and Fiji. The CMEE has drawn subscription from six Fijian exhibitors and it’s the first time for Fiji to take part in CMEE. The Fiji pavilion has 12 stands of international standards.

Fiji remains an intriguing mystery for many. It’s publicly known to be a South Pacific island country on the east of Vanuatu, on the west of Tonga and on the south of Tuvalu. It consists of 332 islands, 106 of which are inhabited. Fiji is a multi-ethnic country, with 51% of its population being Fijians and 44% being Indians. Fiji citizens are either Christians, Hindus or Islamists.

Western vacationists have long regarded Fiji as one of their most preferred destinations because of the scanty population and scenic landscape. While the sea is generally blue, Fiji’s sea is said to have a myriad of attractive colors, because large shoals of variegated strange sea fish sail to and fro in the water.

Among Pacific island countries, Fiji is a relatively developed one with a robust economy. Sugar manufacturing and tourism are the pillars of its national economy. Most of the Fijian exhibitors are engaged in the two industries.

Global Pacific Travel, LLC has not only tourism products on display, but also such ecological products as black pearls, red coral products, tuna products and timber (mahogany, sandalwood, coconut wood). New Century Development, LLC exhibits Fiji water products, noni juice and Fijian toilet soaps. Red Sun Food exhibits their deep-sea fish oil gels, a tasty and wholesome product. Eternity exhibits beer, cola and noni juice products. Evergreen Naturial exhibits noni juice as a hit product. Ambitious Investments provides consulting service in the culture area.

Chinese Set Foot on Fiji 120 Years Ago

Fiji and China have maintained time-honored friendly relations. The first Chinese set foot on Fiji as early as 120 years ago, and now they are deeply rooted in Fijian soil. The recent years have seen closer links of trade and tourism between the two countries. In March 2015, Fiji affirmed visa-free access to Chinese tourists.

The bilateral trade volume keeps growing as Fiji deepens friendship with China and encourages trade cooperation with Guangdong. In June this year, Guangdong (on behalf of China) and Suva negotiated economic & trade matters in Suva, coming into 21 cooperation agreements which totaled a worth of $331 million dollars.

The volume of bilateral trade between Dongguan and Fiji came to $2.56 million from January to July, indicating a small growth.
