CMEE Executive Secretary-general Chen Zhongqiu visited Dongguan Customs and Dongguan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau with colleagues on the afternoon of October 10 to discuss customs clearance affairs related to CMEE foreign exhibits and goods. Both the Customs and the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau consented to initiate a “green channel” customs clearance procedure for foreign exhibits to enter Dongguan.

Secretary-general Chen Zhongqiu provided the two authorities with information about the preparations for the forthcoming CMEE. Currently, 70 countries and regions have sent confirmations of participation, accounting for over 60%of all stands. Now that many foreign exhibits will have to undergo customs clearance, CMEE Secretariat expects more convenience and support on the part of Dongguan Customs and Dongguan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau to ensure a smooth pass for foreign exhibits and enabling the expo to take place successfully.

Dongguan Customs Chief Executive Huang Pu said coordination and customs clearance for foreign exhibits would be conducted at Dongguan Customs this year, adding that the procedure would be further streamlined after Dongguan took the initiative in China to introduce information exchange, supervision coordination and law enforcement across regulatory agencies. More than that, authorized representatives will be posted on site to serve supervisory roles and provide one-stop convenient service for the entry of foreign goods and exhibits. Part of the foreign exhibits may also be transshipped at Dongguan Customs by way of customs clearance.

Dongguan Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau Director-General Tan Jianming said they had tailored customs clearance policy to the countries along the Marine Silk Road, which produce primarily food and agricultural products. He pledged to make more flexible policy to facilitate customs clearance for imports while maintaining a tight control on safety and reliability.
